Is your camper a budding songwriter? Campers will work with a professional composer and performer to explore how to structure their own songs and what it takes to become a professional songwriter. Camp activities include analyzing famous songs, creating melodies, writing lyrics, giving and receiving constructive feedback, peer review, and feedback from a working music professional, Steve Neale.  The camp offers a fun and creative outlet for those interested in expressing ideas through songs in any style. No previous experience is required. Lyric content must be age appropriate.

Instructor Steve Neale composes music for media (KMOX in St. Louis and WTMJ in Milwaukee, WI), has worked on films and video games, directs theatre and live events, does sound-design, conducts area choirs including show choirs, is a sought-after session pianist, accompanist and vocalist, works as a producer and video editor, has decades of teaching experience at the high school and college level (Saint Louis University and Webster University) and is a speaker and clinician. He has performed on some of the biggest and smallest stages in the country and toured with the a cappella octet Pieces of 8.
