The brilliant minds in The Sheldon’s Education Department have teamed up with the literary experts at the St. Louis Public Library to curate a dynamic, wide-ranging reading list to accompany The Sheldon’s 2023-2024 concert season. Cuba: An American History by Ada Ferrer

Our top pick? Cuba: An American History by Ada Ferrer. Winner of the 2022 Pulitzer Prize in History, this book is an exploration of Cuba’s history from pre-Columbus times to the current day. From her decades of research, Ferrer paints a picture of the country and its relationship with the United States and illustrates its importance in shaping our shared histories.

Join us for a Sheldon Book Club Discussion for Cuba: An American History on Wednesday, April 3 at 7 p.m. We’ll talk about the book’s themes, especially as they relate to the Cuban artists making their way to The Sheldon this season.
