Arts Education for All

We believe that every young person deserves to live life as a student of the arts. At The Sheldon, we work side-by-side with community schools and professional educators, welcoming anyone with a curious and creative mind.

Visit the Mudmaid Museum

Coming this fall, The Sheldon invites 3rd-5th grade classrooms for an experience that will inspire students to research, imagine, create and think critically. Visit the galleries and explore the “Mudmaid Museum” inside the Sheldon Art Galleries, where artist Pattie Chalmers’ mythical creature, the Mudmaid, is memorialized and celebrated with “artifacts” fashioned by the artist from a variety of media.

Students will have an immersive experience in the gallery with the Mudmaid art, and then be challenged to create their own imagined mythical creature. The project is aligned with art, social-studies and writing standards in the 3rd-5th grade curriculum.

Music For Lifelong Achievement

Give the gift of music by donating your unused instruments to the Music For Lifelong Achievement (MFLA) program! Part of The Sheldon’s education programs, MFLA works with area schools and organizations to distribute instruments to those in need.

Your donation ensures that kids of all backgrounds are given the opportunity to grow and express themselves through the power of music.
