Live From The Sheldon continues with nationally-recognized blues player Marquise Knox. This month, we welcome our regional partners, simulcasting the concert around the Midwest: The Stiefel Theatre in Salina, KS; The Midwest Trust Center at Johnson County Community College, Overland Park, KS; ECC Arts Center at Elgin Community College, Elgin, IL; and Five Points Washington in Washington, IL.

With a deep-seated reverence for traditional blues music, but with a style all his own, St. Louis-native Marquise Knox has quickly become one of today’s most acclaimed blues musicians. Mentored under the late great blues legend Henry Townsend, Knox released his nationally recognized debut album, Manchild, at the age of 16. Since then, he has toured throughout the U.S. and Europe, appearing with some of America’s most notable blues performers, including B.B. King, Pinetop Perkins and David “Honeyboy” Edwards. In 2019, Knox embarked on a 16-city tour, opening for Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famers Z.Z. Top and Cheap Trick, introducing his sound to new audiences nationwide.

A free, monthly, virtual series spotlighting some of the most creative artists locally and from around the country, “Live From The Sheldon” streams on both The Sheldon’s and HEC’s Facebook and YouTube pages, and is available on HEC Media’s cable channels: 989 Spectrum and 99 U-verse.
